SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS
We are continuously accepting applications for Substitute Teacher positions throughout the year. If you have a four-year degree - not necessarily in the field of education - we would be pleased to consider your application as a Substitute Teacher.
Please note: Prior to being approved for substitute teaching in the Bangor School Department, every applicant is required to attend a Substitute Teacher Training Session. The next group training session has been set for: Wednesday, March 24, 2010 (3:30 p.m.) at the James F. Doughty School. Future training sessions will be listed on our district calendar within this website.
FYI - Our application requires three letters of reference as well as proof of State of Maine CHRC Approval and copies of your transcripts. Other payroll forms enclosed with our application include W-4 Forms, I-9 Form, MSRS Application & other helpful informational sheets. We do not conduct interviews for Substitute Teacher positions. Therefore, the three letters of reference are required - your application cannot be processed without them. Letters of reference must be hard copies - emailed letters are not acceptable.

SUBSTITUTE EDUCATIONAL TECHNICIANS
We are continuously accepting applications for Substitute Educational Technician positions throughout the year. A high school diploma or equivalent will allow us to consider your application as a Substitute EdTech.
FYI - Our application requires three letters of reference as well as proof of State of Maine CHRC Approval. Other payroll forms enclosed with our application include W-4 Form, I-9 Form, MePERS Application and other helpful informational sheets. We do not conduct interviews for Substitute EdTech positions, therefore, the letters of reference are of vital importance to us - your application cannot be processed without them.
Compensation:
- $9.00 per hour (short-term)
- $9.75 per hour (long-term - after 10 consecutive days in the same position)

TUTORS
Bachelor degree required. Teacher certification preferred.
Proof of Maine CHRC Approval required.
Tutors are needed for the Bangor School Department in the areas of English as Second Language (ESL), Special Education, Sciences, and Mathematics. Availability during the school day helpful.
Application and copies of certification and transcripts required.
Compensation:
- Masters Degree with Teacher Certification: $14.50 per hour
- Bachelors Degree with Teacher Certification: $13.50 per hour
- Masters Degree without Teacher Certification: $12.50 per hour
- Bachelors Degree without Teacher Certification: $11.50 per hour
