A Message from Principal Timothy McCluskey:
Vine Street School is a neighborhood school that serves over 200 children in kindergarten through grade three on the West Side of Bangor. Built in 1951, Vine Street School has long been known as a place to grow. Our school is fortunate to have a dedicated and talented staff, who skillfully work to address the educational needs of our students. We work together to prepare our students to be responsible and motivated learners as they strive to reach their academic potential in school. Several of our staff members have received recognition at the state and national level for their excellence as educators.
Vine Street School has 13 regular classrooms, a variety of special education programs, a library, as well as art, music and physical education classes. Our classroom instructional programs are supported by supplemental services such as Reading Recovery, kindergarten literacy groups and Title 1 support. Vine Street also offers a variety of before and after school programs that focus on topics such as reading, art, sign language, writing, and academic tutorials.
The staff at Vine Street School is committed to
working together to make school a positive and successful experience
for each of our students. Our faculty welcomes parent input and
encourages close communication between home and school. We have a very
active PTO that diligently provides supplemental educational
opportunities for our school such as cultural arts presentations and
increased access to technology.
The beginning of a child's educational career should
be an exciting and enjoyable time. Our students are the most important
part of Vine Street School and their learning is our number one
priority.
