A Message from Principal Gary Gonyar

Each school year brings students together as educational partners at the William S. Cohen School. Our mission is to provide a useful and diversified background for young people of middle school age. Our primary function is to help students become the best person they can be: intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially while providing each student with a strong foundation in English, Mathematics, Natural and Social Sciences, Unified Arts, and Exploratory Programs.
William S. Cohen School students represent a unique age group. We realize that students are undergoing tremendous changes during their middle school years so we deal with each student as an individual. The wide range of backgrounds, abilities and interests of our students convinces us that the school environment be structured in a way to enhance each student's self-concept. This can best be achieved by encouraging each student to develop basic skills, explore ideas, make choices, conduct themselves responsibly and develop accountability in order to strengthen positive living-learning behavior. We foster students' development through this stage of life and assist in the transition from elementary school to high school.
It is our hope that all students will find William S. Cohen school an enjoyable place to learn and grow. Our faculty will do all they can to help students be successful. If students or parents need help at any time, call upon any one of our staff for that help. The middle school years should be pleasant and rewarding. We encourage students to involve themselves in school beyond academics by taking part in our varied co-curricular, intramural and interscholastic programs. Students are an important part of our school and they are encouraged to keep in mind that their successes will be directly proportional to their effort.
