Enrolling in the BHS STEM Academy

True to the Bangor School Department's belief that all students have access to the highest level programs offered in its schools, the BHS STEM Academy is an academic program option for any student enrolled full time at Bangor High School. With a tradition of excellent math and science achievement in its grade 6-8 schools (the James F. Doughty School and the William S. Cohen School), BHS STEM Academy is viewed as the next curricular and experiential step for highly motivated Bangor students.

As established in school department Policy JECB, non-Bangor students may be accepted as tuition students in grades 6-12. Bangor High School has a long history of tuition students, with approximately 170 of its current (2011-2012) student body enrolling at BHS through tuition agreements with towns of Amherst, Clifton, Dedham Eddington, Glenburn, Holden, Indian Island, Orland and Veazie. Our programs have also attracted private pay tuition students from Brewer, Old Town and Orono. Information regarding the current BHS tuition rate / tuition agreements can be directed to Alan Kochis, Director of Business Services for Bangor School Department, at 992-4155.
