The Bangor School Department and SportsNet Maine are partnering together to feature BHS athletic programs and provide hands-on learning for students.
SportsNet Maine is a media company that specializes in live streaming of high school athletics. The company partners with the Bangor Daily News to stream select local high school basketball games; SportsNet Maine then provides archived access to recorded broadcasts on its website at www.sportsnetmaine.com and on-demand through Time Warner Cable. SportsNet Maine is seeking to expand to other sports in 2014-2015, including high school football, soccer, hockey, baseball, and softball.
SportsNet Maine’s partnership with Bangor High School will include coverage of four varsity football home games and two varsity soccer home games this fall (dates to be determined). The company will also provide academic opportunities for BHS students concentrating in media-centered study, such as BHS’ new Fine Arts Academy Digital and Commercial Pathway or United Technology Center’s Commercial Video Production, Digital Art, Graphic Design and Film Production classes. The company will also serve as a learning resource for Business Department teachers and students with opportunities to learn about marketing, entrepreneurship, and business management, and will serve as a Work Ready Local Business Partner by conducting mock interviews with students.
The fall sports broadcast schedule will be posted on www.sportsnetmaine.com.
