On Sunday, June 7, 2015, 244 graduates took part in Bangor High School’s Commencement Ceremony at the Cross Insurance Center. Degrees were conferred by Dr. Betsy Webb, Superintendent of Schools and Dr. Jay Ye, Vice Chairman of the School Committee.
Sixty-two students graduated with First Honors, an average of 3.70 or higher, and 56 graduated with Second Honors, an average between 3.00 and 3.69.
Bangor High School’s STEM Academy saw its first graduating cohort, with nine students completing the rigorous STEM course sequence, two-year research apprenticeship and final Capstone project.
Commencement speakers were Andrew Sandweiss and Stephen Comeau. Forty-one scholarships totaling $60,605 were awarded at graduation, adding to the 70 scholarships totaling $45,025 awarded at Academic Awards Night on May 20th.
The Class of 2015 chose a quote from Lao tzu as their Class Motto: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”
