Seniors Pierre-Luc Bouchard and Brandon Hustus earned Gold Medals in their respective categories at the SkillsUSA competition held Friday, March 4 at United Technologies Center. Gold Medalists from each state are able to move on the national SkillsUSA competition held during the summer.
Pierre claimed top honors in the Job Skills Demonstration category for a Hydroponics project developed in the Horticulture Program. Brandon was part of the winning team in the Interactive Applications and Video Game Design category. Senior Corbin Pease earned a Bronze Medal in the category Automotive Service Technician.
SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations. BHS juniors and seniors who attend UTC are able to participate annually in the state SkillsUSA competition, which brings hundreds of Maine students together to test their skills in a range of categories during the single-day event.
