I am pleased to let you know in-person instruction will resume on Monday, February 1 and busing will be provided. There are a couple of bus changes that will need to occur, but your child’s principal will contact you directly if your child is impacted. The buses have been thoroughly cleaned and drivers are healthy. If you would feel more comfortable transporting your child to school, know that we support your decision.
I do need to inform you that there are confirmed cases at Bangor High School, Downeast School, and James F. Doughty School. Fortunately, there are no close contacts. You are able find up to date information about confirmed cases in the Bangor School Department at: https://www.bangorschools.net/news/2020/12/16/bangor-school-department-covid-19-communication-plan-and-dashboard/.
Please continue to wear face masks, practice physical distancing, wash your hands often, and stay home if you show symptoms of cough, shortness of breath, or a temperature higher than 100.4°F.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school. For general COVID-19
questions, dial 211 (or 1-866-811-5695). You can also text your ZIP code to 898-211 or email info@211maine.org. Call a health care provider for questions about your symptoms. More information can be found at www.maine.gov/dhhs/coronavirus or www.cdc.gov/coronavirus
I would like to thank you for your patience, understanding, and willingness to help during this very unusual time. I continue to be thankful that I live and work in such an amazing community where people work together for the best interests of our children.
Thank you and be well.
Kathy Harris-Smedberg, Ph.D.
