The Bangor School Department would like to congratulate Mrs. Kristy Dube (Math Coach/Interventionist at Downeast School) on being selected by Norwegian Cruiseline as a Giving Joy Top 100 Educator. Norwegian Cruise Line launched its Giving Joy contest on May 2, 2022, during Teacher Appreciation Week, to highlight the importance of travel and education and recognize educators for their unwavering dedication to inspiring students every day.

“It is an honor to work with teachers like Mrs. Dube, who give endless opportunities to the students of our school department,” said Superintendent James Tager.

Mrs. Dube was recognized for her devotion to creating a strong foundation of education for her students and offering schoolwide educational resources. Through the pandemic, Mrs. Dube offered summer enrichment opportunities for students in Kindergarten through Grade Three to enhance their understanding of science and math. 

The Top 100 educators from across the United States and Canada won a free cruise aboard their newest record-breaking ship, the Norwegian Prima. During the October 2022 voyage departing from Galveston, Texas, Mrs. Dube will attend a special ceremony where Norwegian will announce the three Grand Prize winners who will receive $25,000, $15,000, and $10,000, respectively, for their school.
