The Bangor School Department believes that personal and collective achievement across our learning community is enhanced by everyone observing and working toward five core elements of the Code of Conduct: Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Compassion, and Ambition.
Academics
Academically, students are challenged to explore, question, analyze and critique. The Bangor School Department is committed to the core value of accelerating all students and offers a continuum of instructional resources and services to support the varied and unique learning profiles of our students. Inquiries regarding accelerated learning may be directed to the school principal.
Bangor High School offers 22 Advanced Placement classes and has four Academies for students who wish to pursue a deeper concentration in STEM, Visual and Performing Arts, Business, or Humanities.
Extra- and Co-Curricular Activities
All students are encouraged to participate in school clubs, organizations, or athletics. Research reveals the connection between participation in school activities and achievement in the classroom. Not only do students make new friends and gain valuable experiences through participating in school activities, but participating students make a significant contribution to their school.
Every school offers after-school activities, and our goal is for 95% of students to engage in at least one extra- or co-curricular activity. Some of our schools reported 100% participation last year! The Bangor School Department offers 19 different athletic opportunities at the high school level and 11 at the middle school level. Bangor High School offers more than 26 clubs/activities, and the middle schools offer more than 20 clubs/activities.
When asked, “Why Bangor?” students consistently state that the breadth and depth of academic and extra-curricular activities are the reason they chose Bangor schools.
