We value your perspective and encourage you to take a few moments to share your thoughts. Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I hope you and your family are enjoying a wonderful summer and finding time to relax and make lasting memories together.
As we prepare to begin another exciting school year, I want to thank you for helping make last year such a success. During the 2025–2026 school year, our students grew academically, socially, and emotionally because of the strong partnership among our dedicated staff, supportive families, and hardworking students. The commitment our school community has to education and to one another continues to make Fruit Street School a special place to learn and grow.
I am honored to serve as principal of Fruit Street School and remain committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed. Together, we will continue to support the Bangor School Department's mission of Pathways to Excellence by providing a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment where every student feels valued and challenged to do their best.
Our talented teachers and staff are excited to welcome students back and are already preparing classrooms filled with meaningful learning experiences. We believe that strong communication, positive relationships, and a caring school climate are the foundation for student success. By working together, we can ensure every child has a rewarding and successful school year.
We would like to invite you to our annual Pre-K–3 Open House on Thursday, August 27, from 4:30–5:30 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child's teacher, visit the classroom, reconnect with friends, and help your child feel excited and confident about the first day of school.
The first day of school will be Tuesday, September 1, 2026. We look forward to welcoming everyone back and beginning another year of learning, growth, and celebration together.

Notice of Temporary Phone Service Disruption
The Bangor School Department is currently upgrading our IT systems to better serve our students, families, and staff. As part of this upgrade, there may be intermittent disruptions to phone service throughout this week.
During this time, you may experience difficulty reaching school offices by phone. If you are unable to get through, please contact your school via email or try calling again later.

Cyr Bus is looking for transportation specialists and school bus drivers or those who are interested in becoming one! School bus drivers have school vacations—school holidays and summer vacations off, (with unemployment benefits). You are home nights and weekends. We will train you for free.
Cyr Bus has PTO, attendance bonuses, a great competitive wage, employee-paid health insurance, HSA, 401k, Aflac, 3 paid snow days, and 6 weeks a year you can collect employment benefits, and there are opportunities to work more hours.
If you are in need of training to be qualified to drive a school bus, training starts soon!

Title I Public Comment Meeting
Families are invited to attend a Title I Public Comment Meeting on Monday, June 15, at 3:15 PM at Downeast School.
The purpose of this meeting is to provide families and community members an opportunity to review and provide feedback on the district's Title I program and plans for the upcoming school year. Your input helps us evaluate the effectiveness of our programs and ensure that Title I services continue to meet the needs of our students and families.
