All Bangor Schools are closed November 11, 2024, in observation of Veterans Day.
Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day) is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans of the United States Armed Forces. It coincides with other holidays, including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day which are celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. At the urging of major U.S. veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.

Good afternoon Families and Community Members,
I'd like to highlight the excellent response of the Bangor High School staff and Bangor
Police Department this morning when they received a call regarding a possible threat on
school grounds.
Immediate action was taken, the school went into a hold response, and following the
Bangor Police Department's thorough sweep of the grounds, the situation was deemed a
hoax.
This exact hoax is occurring across the nation and happened simultaneously at two other
schools in Maine this morning.
Please continue to share the message with your student, that if you see something, say
something.
Thank you for your continued support in providing a safe learning environment for all
students in the Bangor School Department.
Sincerely,
Marie Robinson, Ph.D.

Have a fang-tastic Halloween! Remember to stay safe and spooktacular. Keep an eye out for ghosts and goblins while driving. Trick-or-treat with a buddy, use reflective tape, and carry a flashlight. Let's make this a boo-tiful and safe night! Happy Halloween!

The Bangor School Department shares this commitment to mental health access. Students and families have access to school counselors, social workers, therapists, and school psychologists. Through community partnerships with PCHC and funding through the City of Bangor, we are expanding our school based health clinics to provide resources to our students and their families.

During cold and flu season, remember to stay home if you're sick. Return only after symptom improvement and being fever-free for 24 hours without medicine. Practice good respiratory etiquette and wash your hands frequently!
