Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
We would like to inform you that the last day of school for Bangor Students will be on June 17th, pending any further weather cancellations.
Please note that in the event of unexpected weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances, the last day of school may be subject to change. We will promptly communicate any such changes, if necessary, through our official channels, including our website, social media platforms, and automated notification systems.
As we approach the end of the academic year, we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all our students for their hard work, dedication, and resilience throughout the year. We also extend our gratitude to the parents and guardians for their continued support and collaboration, which has greatly contributed to the success of our students.
To ensure a smooth transition into the summer break, we encourage all students to complete any pending assignments, projects, or examinations responsibly and on time. Please consult with your teachers and academic advisors if you require any additional guidance or support.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the last day of school or any other matter, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school administration. We are here to assist you.
Enthusiastically yours,

At sundown this evening, members of the Jewish community will celebrate the festival of Passover. Reflected through storytelling and dining rituals, this holiday has been practiced by those observing the Jewish faith since the 5th century BCE and highlights the cultural values of resiliency and memory. Happy Passover, Chag Sameach!

Good evening this is James Tager, Superintendent of the Bangor School Department.
A snow day whispers tales of endless play,
A treasured pause in life's demanding way.
With hearts aglow, we savor winter's art,
And let the snowflakes etch upon our hearts.
Due to the impending winter storm forecast for tomorrow for the Penobscot River Valley area I have decided to call a snow day for all Bangor School Department schools on April 4, 2024. All BSD student activities scheduled for Thursday are canceled.
For the safety of everyone in the BSD community and to give families time to make plans for tomorrow, I feel that making a decision tonight is best.
Be safe.
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
The Bangor School Department takes a stand against sexual assault and domestic violence.
This and every month, through prevention, education, mandatory staff trainings and policies, the Bangor School Department works hard to support survivors of sexual assault and prevent all forms of violence.
If you or someone you know would benefit from local education and resources, we encourage you to explore The Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault’s (MECASA) website: https://www.mecasa.org/
Students, parents and staff can report any concerns surrounding sexual assault to a building administrator, The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Coordinator or through the Bangor App.
Good morning! Thank goodness the rain has stopped! 14th St. playground has had a family of ducks hanging out with all the water.
For those of you that celebrate- Happy Easter! Enjoy the day!

Holi marks the arrival of spring in India, Nepal, and other South Asian countries. It celebrates the divine love between the Hindu god Krishna and his consort Radha and signifies a time of rebirth and rejuvenation, embracing the positive and letting go of negative energy.
Holy week Is the week between Palm Sunday and Easter that encompasses the three most sacred days in the Christian church calendar. It begins at sundown on Holy Thursday, (also known as Maundy Thursday, observed in commemoration of Jesus Christ's institution of the Eucharist during the Last Supper) reaches a high point at the Easter Vigil, and concludes with evening prayer at sundown on Easter Sunday.
Easter is the oldest Christian holiday and the most important feast of the ecclesiastical year, held on the first Sunday that follows the first full moon of the Spring Equinox. The date therefore changes each year and falls on any day between March 22 and April 25. Easter has deep significance for Christians and represents rebirth and renewal.
Happy Easter!

Good morning this is James Tager, Superintendent of the Bangor School Department.
Due to current road conditions, the Bangor School Department will have a two-hour delay for all schools March 21, 2024. This delay will help to ensure the safety of our students and staff during the morning commute.
I received this poem from one of our international students:
Snow! Snow! Snow!
As it floats down
And fills the ground.
I turn happy
It’s pretty
And all white!
How beautiful is the earth covered in a white blanket?
It mesmerizes me!
Snow! Snow! Snow!
I love snow!

Friday, March 15, 2024, is a Teacher in-Service Day. All students, with the exception of Abraham Lincoln School, will have a day off from school. Abraham Lincoln School students will have a remote learning day. Abraham Lincoln School was canceled on February 13 due to a water main break. This was an unexpected cancellation. The school is required by the State of Maine Department of Education to make up for the canceled day.
Due to a fire off Ohio St. many buses will have to reroute due to the road being closed. Buses all over the city may be running behind getting students home today due to the bus garage being impacted.
