The school counseling office at Bangor High School is excited to announce the details about our annual college and career fair.
Students and parents are encouraged to attend the fair as a critical part of the planning process for what happens after high school.
There will be over 30 universities, employers and non-profit organizations present to share their knowledge and opportunities with students and their families. Visitors will have the opportunity to browse through the gym to see all of their displays and to strike up conversations with their representatives.
Who should attend? Anyone who is, or is connected to, a student currently in high school. Middle school families are also encouraged to attend. This event is open to anyone. Students from any area school are welcome. According to Dr. Leach, a school counselor at Bangor High School, “Future plans inform current plans. When students have a vision for their future they have a better idea of what they need to do now in order to achieve their goals.”
What will you see? Admissions representatives from colleges and universities will be here to talk about the opportunities and programs at their institutions. Military recruiters will likewise be here for those who want to hear about their education and career opportunities. There are also going to be businesses and non-profit organizations at the fair so that students can explore career options and deepen their conversations about higher education choices. Employers who are seeking part-time workers will share opportunities for employment.
Why should you come? This is going to be the largest College & Career Fair in the Bangor region this Spring. Students and families will be able to see employers, educational institutions, financial advisors and volunteer non-profit organizations all in one place. Engaging with the fair participants will help answer questions and stir the imagination for what the future holds for students. “This is our biggest post-secondary planning event of the school year and it is the best way to engage students and families with the career development process,” Leach said.
