Mary Snow Chess Team Emerges Victorious in Maine Team Chess Championship's K-5 Section

The Mary Snow chess team was recognized by the Bangor School Committee for their triumphant 1st place position in the highly competitive K-5 section of the Maine Team Chess Championship held at Hampden Academy on March 9, 2024.

The tournament reached its thrilling climax with an intense final game, where Bangor was only in the lead by 0.5 points over Cape Elizabeth, leaving everyone in suspense until the last move was made, ultimately determining the deserving winner.

The remarkable achievement of the Mary Snow chess team can be attributed to their relentless training and the unwavering support of their mentors. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Bendure, Mrs. Wentworth and Mrs Klein, who provided invaluable guidance throughout the club/team practices and also attended the championship to cheer the team on.

Dr. Chadbourne, whose infectious enthusiasm has been an inspiration to the team, deserves special mention for his unwavering support. His presence at the tournament, cheering the team on, further bolstered their morale and determination.

In addition to the Mary Snow chess team's success, we are delighted to share that both Abraham Lincoln and Fruit Street fielded complete teams at the tournament, showcasing their remarkable talents. The Fruit Street team secured an impressive 2nd place finish in the fiercely competitive K-3 section.
