On Wednesday, Doughty students participated in a multicultural day featuring presentations from all over the world. Students traveled to different countries (classrooms) to learn about diverse cultures. Throughout the morning groups visited places like Nigeria, Uzbekistan, Bulgaria, Spain, China, and Lebanon. These presentations were run by people in the Bangor-area community, including multilingual students and teachers from Bangor High School, members of Chispa, the Bangor Chinese School, the Maine Multicultural Center, the University of Maine, and Blackbird Beats from the Children’s Museum and Theater of Maine. #WeAreBangor

Enjoy April Vacation!

Big thank-you to the UMaine Men’s Hockey Team and Bananas the Black Bear for joining us at JFDS today during lunch!
Our lunch was BANANAS! The hockey team dropped in for a game of dodgeball, brought the energy, and even answered questions about their recent season and school majors. We loved having you here. Thanks for making today’s lunch one to remember!

What happens when a school yard becomes a living classroom? In this episode of Beyond the Bell, Dr. Marie Robinson and Sara Luciano welcome members of the Bangor School Garden Network to explore why school gardens matter and what’s growing across the Bangor School Department. Together, they discuss how gardens go far beyond vegetables—creating meaningful connection to nature, strengthening belonging and teamwork, and helping students build curiosity, persistence, and confidence.
