Bangor, ME — Bangor Adult Education is excited to announce a new collaborative program aimed at supporting internationally trained professionals in their pursuit of career advancement and integration into the local workforce. This initiative, developed in partnership with the State of Maine, Portland Adult Education, and Lewiston Adult Education, will provide essential resources such as career advising, licensing and credential support, and networking opportunities.
The program has been designed to address the unique challenges faced by internationally trained professionals, facilitating their transition into meaningful employment in Maine. By offering tailored support, the initiative aims to enhance participants' job prospects and help them navigate the complexities of professional licensing in the state.
Until now, the program has operated with two part-time staff members, each working at .1 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE). However, in an exciting development, Brian Loring will step into the role of full-time New Mainer Resource Center (NMRC) Coordinator starting December 9. Loring brings a wealth of experience and a passion for community engagement, making him an ideal fit to lead this important initiative.
"We are thrilled to expand our support for internationally trained professionals in our community," said Greg Leavitt, Bangor Adult and Community Education Director. "With Brian joining us as the NMRC Coordinator, we are confident that we will be able to offer even more comprehensive assistance to those looking to build their careers in Maine."
The launch of this program reflects Bangor Adult Education's commitment to inclusivity and economic development in the region, ensuring that all community members have access to the resources they need to thrive.
