The Bangor School Department is proud to celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. Mary Sophia Snow was born in Bangor in 1857. She began her career as a teacher in the Bangor schools and while teaching became the first woman president of the Maine Teachers' Association. After leaving teaching for a career in business, she was elected to the Bangor School Board. Eventually, she would be named the system's superintendent.
She spent 11 years as Superintendent of Schools. In that time she opened Maine's first "normal training school" where new teachers learned the practical, day-to-day skills necessary to be a professional teacher.
Mary Snow was also elected president of the New England Superintendents' Association--and was the first woman to do so. Later, the University of Maine bestowed a master's degree in philosophy upon her.
Eventually she left Bangor for positions in New York City and then Chicago. She returned to New York City, where she died in 1924. In 1926, a new school on Broadway was named after her. Today we celebrate 100 years of the Mary Snow School.

We could not be prouder of them. The decision to use their profits to provide snacks speaks volumes about their character. They truly embody what it means to SOAR — being Safe, Open-Minded, Accountable, and Respectful. Moments like this remind us that we are nurturing empathy, leadership, and community spirit.
Way to SOAR, Fairmount! Together, we're not just learning; we're making a difference!

As you lace up for one of the final times in a Titans jersey, we want to thank each of you for everything you’ve given this program—on the ice, in the locker room, and throughout our two cities. You’ve carried more than a logo on your chest: you’ve carried the spirit of two communities coming together, blending rivalries into respect, neighborhoods into family, and different traditions into one amazing team.
You helped build something special. Meeting new teammates, sharing late-night drives, and cheering for one another through wins and losses, you turned strangers into teammates and teammates into Titans. That unity is your legacy: a group that refused to be defined by geography and instead chose to define itself by grit, heart, and teamwork.
As seniors, you’ve set the standard for what it means to represent the Twin City Titans. You showed younger players how to work hard in practice, how to pick a teammate up after a tough shift, and how to celebrate each small victory that leads to bigger ones. You gave fans from both cities something to be proud of—proof that when we come together, we can build something greater than the sum of its parts.
Enjoy every moment left this season. Play with the same courage and selflessness that brought you here, and know that you carry the pride of Bangor and Brewer with every stride. Whatever comes next—college, work, new teams—take the lessons, the friendships, and the Titans’ spirit with you. You’ve made your mark, and you’ve shown what unity can do.
We’re proud of you.
